‘TERRIFIC’ Rockville Students to Receive Free Bicycles

Rockville Bike Hub and the City to Award Refurbished Bikes for Good Deeds

Rockville, Maryland, May 4 – The city’s TERRIFIC Bikes program will award free, refurbished bicycles to 39 Rockville students who performed good deeds in the community.

The bicycle distribution, which also includes new helmets and a brief safety orientation, will be held from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 at Elwood Smith Community Center, 601 Harrington Road.

The students, in grades 1-5, earned the bikes by completing six responsible acts, such as perfect school attendance or volunteering at a charitable organization, and by demonstrating that they are “TERRIFIC,” which stands for trustworthy, earnest, respectful, responsible, involved, fair, industrious and caring. The program, run by the City of Rockville and the Rockville Bike Hub, is open to students in Rockville public or private schools and those who are home schooled.

The Mayor and Council, at their Monday, May 2 meeting, presented the bicycle recipients with certificates recognizing their achievement.

Volunteers from the Rockville Bike Hub collected and repaired bicycles so that they are ready for distribution to TERRIFIC Bikes recipients. Learn more about the Rockville Bike Hub at www.rockvillebikehub.org.
