Dive Into Summer With Water Safety Day

Event Features Free Swim Lesson Screenings, Safety Demos and Swimming

Rockville, Maryland, May 26 – The City of Rockville dives into a summer of swimming and fun as it joins Montgomery County Recreation and the City of Gaithersburg for Water Safety Day from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at the Water Park at Bohrer Park, 512 S. Frederick Ave., in Gaithersburg.

The free event will be held rain or shine and will include information booths and lifeguard demonstrations, and lessons on the proper use of personal flotation devices, how to safely assist someone struggling in the water and the importance of sunscreen to prevent skin damage, as well as free swim lesson screenings.

“As summer gets underway and outdoor community pools open for the summer season, the timing is perfect to focus on water safety,” said County Executive Ike Leggett. “I encourage all families to participate in this event to learn effective ways to avoid unnecessary accidents.”

Anyone attending Water Safety Day who visits the information booths can stay and enjoy a free swim. Children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information, call Carrie Headen at 240-777-8060, the Gaithersburg Aquatics Division at 301-258-6445 or the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center at 240-314-8750.
