Open House Planned for Swim and Fitness Center Renovations

Conceptual Design to be Presented for Public Review and Feedback

Rockville, Maryland, June 5 – Plans to modernize and expand the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center’s locker room and lobby are underway, and the community is invited to hear more about the project at an open house, from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 22 at the center.

Key elements of the project include increasing the size and capacity of the locker room; modernizing infrastructure and amenities; improving Americans with Disabilities Act compliance; providing family and gender-neutral locker room areas; and reconfiguring the lobby.

The open house will allow attendees to see a presentation of the conceptual design, review highlights of facility areas, talk to city staff and the design team, and provide feedback.

A survey to gather public input on the conceptual design will be available at the meeting and online. Following the open house, significant architectural and engineering work has to be completed before final plans are ready to be submitted for permit approval and construction bids.

No RSVP is necessary. If you require assistance to attend, call Rockville’s ADA coordinator at 240-314-8108 (TTY 240-314-8137). To receive emailed updates on the project’s progress, sign up at www.rockvillemd.gov/swimcenter and click the tab labeled “Alerts/Notify Me.” Renovations updates will also be available at www.rockvillemd.gov/rsfcrenovations.

Rockville Swim and Fitness Center is a full-service aquatics, fitness and recreation facility located at 355 Martins Lane. The facility features two indoor and three outdoor pools along with a whirlpool and fitness and exercise room.
