Deadline Approaches for Rockville Community Grant Applications
Neighborhood Groups Encouraged to Apply
Rockville, Maryland, March 23 – Applications are being accepted through Thursday, April 12 for Rockville’s Organizing Communities and Neighborhoods (ROC-N) Matching Grant Program.
The program distributes matching grants of up to $1,000 to neighborhood associations for projects promoting community involvement and connectivity. It is designed to support and empower neighborhood groups and encourage participation by community members. Projects meet one or more of the following:
•
Strengthen and improve neighborhood organizations and citizen groups.
•
Improve the appearance of city neighborhoods Rockville’s communities.
•
Advance inter-neighborhood or community cooperation.
Qualified neighborhood organizations, including PTAs, could receive up to $1,000 and must provide a cash or in-kind match equal to or greater than the grant amount requested. At least 25 percent of the match must be volunteer hours. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Funding is limited.
Projects are evaluated based on the neighborhood’s ability to provide a funding match, the level of community involvement, project readiness and the tangible neighborhood benefit. Projects are evaluated and selected for funding by a committee of City of Rockville staff.
