Rockville Holiday Drive

About Rockville Holiday Drive

For nearly 50 years, the City of Rockville has operated an annual Holiday Drive that relies on a collaborative partnership with local churches, schools, civic organizations, service clubs, businesses, social service agencies, and individuals working together to distribute holiday baskets to Rockville families and seniors in need.

The Rockville Holiday Drive relies entirely on monetary contributions and donations from local individuals, schools, businesses, and organizations. Donations are accepted year-round.

2024 Holiday Drive Recap

Rockville’s community warmth and holiday spirit were on display during the 2024 Holiday Drive, with a total of 158 donors and a total cash amount of $32,054 raised to support families and people in need throughout November and December. In-kind, or non-monetary, donations totaled $20,000.

450 volunteers donated 1,300 hours of their time. Hundreds of families were helped during the two-month campaign. In November, 629 families and seniors, a total of 2,159 people, were helped with the Holiday Drive’s distribution of food. Families and seniors in need were provided with a $15 grocery store gift card, a box of nonperishable food, a bag of produce, and a pie, via an in-person drive-thru pickup at Elwood Smith Community Center or home delivery. In December, 1,135 children from 454 families were provided toys and books for each child ages 0-11 and a $25 Target gift card and books for each child ages 12-17.

Over 100 volunteers assisted with delivery and book sorting, including high school students participating in the city’s Latino Youth Development Program who volunteered at both drives and were a tremendous help. Staff used the city’s volunteer website to promote the volunteer opportunities and recruit volunteers.
