All dogs, cats, and ferrets 4 months and older in the City of Rockville must be licensed annually and have an up-to-date rabies vaccination. The fine for an unlicensed pet is $50. The fine for an unvaccinated pet is $250.
When in public, all pets must wear a collar and tag unless they are microchipped. Dogs licensed through the city receive exclusive access to Rockville dog parks.

Proof of Rabies Vaccination
Pets must have a rabies vaccination before applying for a pet license. Owners must provide proof from a veterinarian and submit a copy of the rabies vaccination with their application.
The Montgomery County Office of Animal Services offers free, weekly rabies vaccine clinics that are open to Rockville residents. A City of Rockville pet license application is available at the clinic.

Residents may apply online, or download an application and submit it to the Rockville City Police Station between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
