Skate Park Construction Project

The City of Rockville Department of Recreation and Parks has been approved for funds to construct new Skate Park, located at 355 Martins Lane (Welsh Park, Outdoor Swimming Pool Parking Lot). The Rockville Skate Park project is intended to provide the community with a much needed upgrade to the existing facility.  The new skatepark is expected to draw and engage local users to a concrete skate facility that will challenge beginners through experienced users. The features of this new skatepark shall include street and park elements, obstacles, and terrain.

  • September 2018 - December 2018: Request for Proposal Process. 
  • January 2019: Bid Awarded to Spohn Ranch Inc.
  • February-April 2019: Contract review
  • April-May 2019: Preliminary planning for project. 
  • May 30, 2019: Skatepark Design Workshop
  • July 16, 2019: Second Design Workshop
