Our Teen Events 

Teen Lock-In

Teens are you ready to take over the Twinbrook Community Center? Get ready because we have a lot planed. This after-hours event will have everything your looking for and more. Get ready for a night of fun games, music, delicious food and more. We are pulling out the BIG screen for the best and the biggest video game tournament you have ever seen. For those that aren’t into video games, get ready for a cooking war. Participants are supervised at all times by our City of Rockville staff. Snacks and drinks will be available. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Our Teen Programs

Friday Night Ski Club 

Winter session is full 

Head to Ski Liberty in the comfort of a coach bus every Friday night for eight weeks. Fee includes supervision, bus transportation, mandatory helmet and the ski package you select. Pick-up and drop-off is at Robert Frost Middle School. Spaces are limited and fill quickly.

Future Leaders Camp 

Future Leaders Camp is open to teens looking to have fun while learning leadership skills. FLC provides fun, interactive workshops, games and activities designed to prepare teens to volunteer and/or working in a camp setting (or their first job). Workshops include communication, teamwork, leadership activities and more. A team-building trip is included in the cost. Participants also have the opportunity to earn up to 30 SSL hours at a City of Rockville program. FLC participants are given priority after returning LIT's during the LIT placement process. The Future Leaders Camp and LIT program are considered job training, and thus participants are placed where needed, not always where participants request. Payment plans and financial assistance are available.

Glimmer N' Gloss 

Come enjoy an intro into the world of cosmetology. Whether you are exploring hair styling for your own sense of styling or pursuing your ultimate cosmetologist dreams, Glimmer N’ Gloss is the class for you. In this 6 weeks class, you will learn the fundamental principles of hair styling, braiding, facial features, eye makeup and so much more by a professional hair and makeup artist. The bravest of the braves are invited to join us for an evening of fright and fear at the Field of Screams located in Olney Maryland. Your fearless child will be put to the test on all 4 terrifying haunted attractions Field of screams has to offer, which includes both trails, factory, hayride and a fast pass. Transportation is available from the Thomas Farm Community Center and your child will be accompanied by City of Rockville staff. Holiday Shopping Trip 

The holiday season is approaching and what better way to spend your weekend shopping. Come join us on our first ever holiday shopping trip to the Leesburg Outlets in Leesburg, Virginia. Your child will have the opportunity to shop at all the outlet stores Leesburg has to offer at a discounted rate. Cost includes transportation and supervision by City of Rockville Staff.

Teens on the Go 

This fun summer program is for youth entering grades 6-10, held Monday-Friday, June 25–Aug. 17. Teens are picked up and dropped off daily at one of the three locations listed below that they choose, to attend various trips and events. This Summer, we have NEW and EXCITING trips planned all week long. Monday through Friday your child well be out and about on fun, safe and adventurous trips. Payment plans and financial assistance are available. One week prior to each trip, an itinerary with specific information will be emailed to each participant. This two-night training will focus on leadership, communication and what it means to be a successful volunteer in City of Rockville Recreation programs. This program will include active workshops as well as skill building activities designed to prepare teens to volunteer and/or work in a recreational setting. VolunTeen participants will have the opportunity to earn their SSL hours at a City of Rockville program or facility during the school year. Food will be provided to participants both nights of this program.
