Mayor and Council Approve Increases to Parking Fines Motorists could face $250 fines for illegally parking near fire hydrants, in fire lanes or in designated handicap parking spaces after the Mayor and Council approved increases that bring fines in the City of Rockville in line with those of neighboring jurisdictions.
The City of Rockville only issues parking tickets for illegally parked vehicles on the streets or the City Hall lot and time-lapsed meters. All vehicles ticketed at parking garages or private lots must contact the operator.
If the parking enforcement upholds the ticket, further action can be taken to request a court date by filling out the information on the back of your ticket and returning to the Rockville Police Department. Requesting a court date must be done within 15 days of receiving the ticket.
All fines must be paid within 15 days. A penalty fee of $10 will be add after 15 days and again at 30 days past due. After 30 days, we will notify the State Motor Vehicle Administration and additional fees may be added.
Repeated delinquency can lead to the vehicle being towed at the owner’s expense.
