At the March 30, 2020, Mayor and Council meeting, Recreation and Parks staff were asked to lead the process for reimagining the future of RedGate Park. The team managing this project includes staff from Recreation and Parks, Public Works, and Community Planning and Development Services.
The city contracted with a consultant to help prepare design concepts that will ultimately assist the Mayor and Council in their decision-making process for the next steps in making Rockville's vision for RedGate Park a reality.
The preferred concept includes a small-scale amphitheater, community gardens, a nature playground, an arboretum, picnic areas, a network of trails and renovating the existing clubhouse. Plans for the park were developed based on the city’s strategic plan for recreation and parks in Rockville, considerable engagement with and feedback from the community, input from the Mayor and Council, and environmental constraints of natural features at the park.
