Zoning Interpretations

Sec. 25.06.04 of the City of Rockville Code of Ordinances empowers the Chief of Zoning to interpret the Zoning Ordinance when there is a need for clarity in the application and administration of zoning regulations, either generally or as applied to a specific property. To this end, the Chief of Zoning issues written determinations and advice memorializing such interpretations.

Interpretations

Administrative interpretations are formal decisions by the Chief of Zoning specifically interpreting zoning and/or land use regulations. Determinations are appealable to the Board of Appeals within 30 days from the official letter of notification of the decision.

Advice

In addition to formal determinations, the Chief of Zoning issues written advice to provide guidance on the policies and practices staff follows in applying specific zoning regulations.
