Fire Protection Permits and Procedures

City Hall is currently closed to the public. The Fire Marshals office will accept FPS applications electronically. All submissions should be emailed to

FPS Submission requirements:

  • Completed application (please be sure to use the updated application), plans and supporting documents must be in PDF format.
  • File names should reflect the file’s content (for example, “123_Main_Street_Application”; “123_Main_Street_Plans”). 
  • Digital files should be unlocked and fully editable. All digital signatures must be approved/flattened prior to submission so as not to interfere with the plan review code compliance mark-ups on the plans.
  • Please send separate documents for plans, specifications and calculations. All plan pages shall be combined into one document.
  • Maximum file size is 25 MB.
  • Walk-thru permits must state “Walk-Thru” in the email subject line. Failure to include this in the subject line will delay the Walk-Thru review.

Review, markups, comments and approval stamps will be made electronically. Permit fees are to be paid online. Once paid, the permit & plans will be emailed to the applicant. For any questions regarding submittal, contact

For fire inspections, complete the request online or email and a representative from the fire marshal’s office will contact you. Inspections will be conducted virtually, when possible. No inspections will be performed physically on-site. View our virtual inspections help document. Our inspectors will work with you to find the best way to connect virtually. Inspectors will accept photographs for review in special circumstances.

The following license-related inspections will be suspended:

  • Group home
  • Board and care
