Twenty-one individuals were interviewed by the Mayor and Council on Saturday, March 2. Final candidate selections were announced that afternoon.

The Mayor and Council thanked everyone involved for their interest, passion and involvement in advancing the city’s goals.

Materials submitted by applicants — a narrative of their relevant experience and background, and a statement of their priorities and vision for the city — are on the city's website.

The vacancy was created following the election of Julie Palakovich Carr to the Maryland House of Delegates to represent District 17, which includes Rockville. Palakovich Carr resigned on Jan. 8. The final candidate selected will serve the remainder of that term.

Interviews of the five finalists will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, and televised on channel 11, and livestreamed at www.rockvillemd.gov/rockville11 (select “Live video streaming” under “Watch Rockville 11 Programming.”)

Video of the March 2 interviews will be available at www.rockvillemd.gov/AgendaCenter.
