Candidates Set for Rockville’s Vote by Mail Election

Two Candidates Vying for Mayor’s Seat, 13 for Four Council Seats 

Rockville, Maryland, Sept. 6 – Rockville voters will decide between two candidates for mayor and 13 candidates for four council seats in this fall’s first-ever Vote by Mail city election. The deadline to certify as a candidate was 5 p.m. today.

The candidates for mayor are: 

  • Bridget Donnell Newton.
  • Virginia D. Onley.

The candidates for council are: 

  • Monique Ashton.
  • Cynthia Cotte Griffiths.
  • Beryl L. Feinberg.
  • Richard Gottfried.
  • James Hedrick.
  • Kuan Lee.
  • Charles Littlefield.
  • Donald A. Masters.
  • Brigitta Mullican.
  • David Myles.
  • Matthew Perkins.
  • Mark Pierzchala.
  • Suzan Pitman.

The four council candidates with the most votes will win the four council seats. The Mayor and Council serve four-year terms.

Every U.S. citizen living within Rockville city limits and over the age of 18 by Nov. 5, 2019 is eligible to vote in the city election. Friday, Sept. 20 is the deadline to register to vote or update voter information. To be sure to receive a ballot, visit to check your address, update your information and register online to vote.

Ballots will be mailed to registered voters on or before Friday, Oct. 11. Return your postage-paid ballot to the city. All ballots must be received at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 to be counted. Postmarks do not count.

Completed ballots can also be dropped off anytime, 24/7, before 8 p.m. Nov. 5 at the drop box in the upper parking lot at City Hall, or from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 5 at the vote center at City Hall. City Hall will be the only vote center. Same-day voter registration will be available at City Hall for eligible residents who are not yet registered. Those residents can register and cast their vote from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. at City Hall.
