Rockville, Maryland, Oct. 9 – Rockville is seeking volunteers to help keep city streams trash-free with two stream cleanups in October.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, the city’s Environment Commission will host a cleanup from 10 a.m.-noon at Maryvale Park, 812 First St. Commission members will be at the park’s gazebo to greet participants. Following the cleanup, from noon-2 p.m., meet at True Respite Brewery, 7301 Calhoun Place #600, for a family-friendly gathering featuring beer specials for stream-cleanup volunteers 21 and older. A food truck will be onsite or bring a lunch.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, volunteers will clean the stream at Twinbrook Community Park from 9:30-11 a.m. City staff will greet volunteers at Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway.
Gloves and bags will be provided to participants at both cleanups. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes. Student Service Learning hours are available for student volunteers.
