Rob DiSpirito Resigns as Rockville City Manager, Barack Matite Named Acting City Manager

Rockville, Maryland, Aug. 18 – Rob DiSpirito has resigned as Rockville’s city manager.

DiSpirito submitted his resignation to the Mayor and Council on Thursday, Aug. 17. It became effective at 5 p.m. that day.

The Mayor and Council accepted his resignation and appointed Deputy City Manager Barack Matite as acting city manager, effective immediately.

DiSpirito had served as Rockville’s city manager since January 2017.

The City of Rockville operates under a council-manager form of government. The city manager is responsible to the Mayor and Council for the day-to-day management of city operations. Under provisions of the City Charter and code, the city manager prepares a budget for the Mayor and Council’s approval; recruits, hires, and supervises staff; implements Mayor and Council policies; and provides professional recommendations.
