This series presents adults with new and exciting ways to introduce themselves and children to the natural world. Journaling can sound daunting but doesn’t have to be.   5. Water Marbling - CANCELED

    Water marbling is an ancient painting technique that involves floating paint on water to make patterns and then transferring that pattern to a surface. This class teaches the process of water marbling and then you will put those skills to use to make your own silk scarf. This class will be taught by the owner of itokami, LLC from Vienna, VA. Each paid participant will go home with their own printed silk scarf to keep for yourself or give as a gift! Ages 9+

  7. FREE Narcan Training

    The City of Rockville, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and the Montgomery County Collaboration Council will conduct free training on how to identify an opioid overdose and use the rescue drug Narcan (also known as Naloxone) to reverse its effects. RSI recruits volunteers to run the gift and thrift shop, book sales and bazaars, and weekly bingo, just to name a few of the current fundraisers. Proceeds from the fundraisers as well as donations to the corporation support the annual senior center budget, and center needs such as supplies, furniture and equipment.

  13. Washington Balalaika Society presents: "Baikal to Brazil"

    The Washington Balalaika Society, a Russian folk orchestra of 60 musicians performing on balalaikas and domras, will present a musical program spanning an amazing geographical area! Concert repertoire will include 'A Tale of Lake Baikal' capturing the mysterious sounds of the frozen waters of Russia's Lake Baikal to the rousing, bustling and rumba sound of 'Brasileira' from Milhaud's Scaramouche Suite. Many will recognize the orchestra’s unique and mysterious shimmering sound. A recent concert attendee wrote: ‘I am simply in awe of the excellence of your balalaika orchestra…the magical sounds from the great blend of instruments, the unbelievable beautiful expressiveness, the perfect arrangements, the precision of the varying tempos--how everyone playing was so utterly in step with your wonderful conductor... Last season the orchestra celebrated 30 years of performance in the Greater Washington, D.C./Maryland area.

It is the uplifting tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and the restorative power of love and generosity. Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley who wanders aimlessly carrying heavy chains forged from his own greed. The Spirits of Christmas reveal Scrooge’s miserly existence, the opportunities wasted in his youth, the cruelty of his present, and the future if he stays his course.
