  5. Through the Lens of Time: Thomas Wolfe

    Many fascinating and enchanting individuals have graced the cover of "Time" magazine. Take a closer look at some of these people. Instructor: Joan Adams. Thomas Wolfe: Wolfe was born in Asheville, NC in 1900. He spent most of his childhood at the boarding house owned by his mother, Julia. He started college at age 15. After he graduated from Harvard, he taught for seven years at New York University. "Look Homeward, Angel," published in 1924, brought him to national attention. His popularity was shared with the literary giants of his time (Faulkner, Hemingway, and Fitzgerald). How did this man influence the likes of Kerouac, Bradbury, and Conroy? Why are his works still significant today? Course 23853
